Aaron Lebel is a Carnegie Mellon ML and Statistics dropout and co-founder @ Pairi, a Techstars startup which has raised $250k. He discusses the value of self-learning, untraditional pathways, and taking risks.
College is not the only path to success. Initially building an eyelash extension business, Lebel and his co-founder pivoted to building a no-code platform for launching service based marketplaces fast—a risk which paid off and resulted in both of them dropping out of Carnegie Mellon to pursue their work on their startup, Pairi. The many lessons he has learned along the way have taught him the importance in solving a real market need, as he discusses discovering the large problem of building online marketplaces, which averages $24k in 6 months across startups. Lebel and his co-founder also knew little about business when they started, yet discovered the benefit in leaning technical in that showing is the best way of selling.
Lebel’s incredible story is one that all students or professionals alike can learn from, from making the decision to drop out of college to solving a real problem through a startup to raising funding and serving customers.
