RSAC 2025 Coverage is done! It's a wrap, we are good to go, but The Musings Are Just Getting Started | An RSAC Conference 2025 Conversation | On Location Coverage with Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli

Episode Summary

RSAC 2025 is a wrap. The expo floor is closed, the conversations have ended, and the gear is packed — but the reflections are just beginning. Throughout the week, Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli had powerful discussions around AI, identity, platform security, partnerships, the evolving legal and VC landscapes, and the growing importance of multi-layered defense strategies.

Episode Notes

RSAC 2025 is a wrap. The expo floor is closed, the conversations have ended, and the gear is packed — but the reflections are just beginning. Throughout the week, Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli had powerful discussions around AI, identity, platform security, partnerships, the evolving legal and VC landscapes, and the growing importance of multi-layered defense strategies. But one moment stood out. While we were recording outside the conference, someone walking by asked us, “Is the world secure now?” Our answer was simple: “We’re working on it.” That exchange captured the spirit of the entire event — security is not a destination, it’s an ongoing effort. We learn, we adapt, and we move forward faster than the future is coming at us. Thank you to everyone who made RSAC 2025 such a meaningful experience. Next stops: AppSec Global in Barcelona, Infosec Europe in London, Black Hat and DEF CON in Las Vegas — and more conversations across the hybrid analog digital society we all share. Until next time, keep building, keep connecting, and keep moving forward.

Sean Martin: [00:00:00] Look at that.

Marco Ciappelli: You're giving me this furry thing here. It's not even windy.

Sean Martin: Are you feeling furry? A little bit in my throat, you know?

Marco Ciappelli: Yeah. I'm surprised you still have, actually, I'm

Sean Martin: surprised I have a voice. Voice. You did. It seems a little lower to me at the moment. You, I think a little deeper and froger than normal.

Marco Ciappelli: I think you did. You did You do like maybe twice as many as I did. For sure.

Sean Martin: I should. I should have been drinking tea with honey or lemon with honey or something.

Marco Ciappelli: Yeah, you should have, but you didn't. So look, here's my symbolic. Goodbye to RSA conference. Yeah. 2025. It's

Sean Martin: already done. I took mine off before I went to get my hat in the car.

You

Marco Ciappelli: took your off before we got

Sean Martin: here And they didn't, they didn't even, they didn't even check. They let me in. Yeah. Great security because they know you. Maybe I know it is great security. I just look, I look trustworthy.

Marco Ciappelli: Look at that. There's still people there, but the expo is now closed officially. No more talk, no more.

[00:01:00] Speaking was, uh, a few days. It was amazing conversation entire

Sean Martin: time and, uh, bit. All right, Sean, what a bit on the, uh, Ferris wheel. No, we didn't do that. We did a bit on the, uh, Stony West for a few minutes. Alright. It's so

Marco Ciappelli: pretty, but. So we need to get back on the road. I know to drive to LA Chats on the road.

This is, chats on the road is gonna be a long drive. We're gonna stop for a burger and, uh, we're gonna see some cows. We'll see cows at that day and we're gonna get some work done. I

Sean Martin: don't, I don't think we're gonna stop for the cows.

Marco Ciappelli: Yeah, unfortunately our work is done on the floor, but there is still production writing.

And lots of rides, uh, posting and reconnecting remotely again with other people. We saw here, which by the way, let's be honest, it is the best part of the conference. Exactly. The learning is great, but those ugs met a lot of new friends. Ugs are back,

Sean Martin: ugs are back.

Marco Ciappelli: Uh, selfie or didn't happen. We have plenty of those.

Sean Martin: Put a few up

Marco Ciappelli: actually. Yeah. [00:02:00] Sean, what did you learn today? I don't wanna hear too

Sean Martin: much. What did you learn? Yeah, very quickly. Today was about, uh, platform. And, uh, yeah, AI identities and, uh, yeah. Multi multilayered solutions. I think those are the main things. The other, the other really cool conversation for me was looking at the market scape and m and as and partnerships and the legal world and the VC world.

We lawyered up, we lawyered that today. That was a cool conversation. I'm excited for that one.

Marco Ciappelli: Yahir, thank you for stopping by. That's cool. We really enjoyed it. Yeah.

Sean Martin: Uh, yeah. So I'm gonna leave it at that. 'cause that was, to me, that was, that was the closing of, of the day pretty much. And yeah. Good stuff.

Marco Ciappelli: So I'm gonna leave it with something that just happened actually a few minutes ago.

We were setting up here to record on, uh, this bridge. Which again, it's a pretty cool location. We never filmed here before. And this guy stop and he say, what's our SA conference? And I [00:03:00] say, said, you dunno, cybersecurity. I said, I had no idea. He said, cybersecurity said to me, well are so, are we secure now in the world?

And I said, well, we're working on it. And that's my take. We're always gonna be working on, and not only on the cybersecurity, but security, physical security, uh, in general. Yeah. Maybe we learn as we go. We learn from the past. And, uh, sure. We have to be fast to do so because the future is not waiting. No, but it's exciting to be in this industry.

It is exciting. I, I love to talk to these very, very smart people. Yep. Except for you.

Sean Martin: Except for me. Well, I'm not smart, so there you go. You don't have to talk to me. You know what I'm excited for. What? Having lunch

Marco Ciappelli: Oh, for, we're gonna get in the car. I'm get outta here. Excited

Sean Martin: for lunch for a change instead of, uh, recording.

And, uh, I appreci. I love the recording. I appreciate all the sponsors. Oh, I want to thank them. But I do like lunch. I'm excited to get on the road. Have some lunch. I am

Marco Ciappelli: excited for that. Some good music. Some black sad Ah, yeah.

Sean Martin: [00:04:00] Music.

Marco Ciappelli: One more thing.

Sean Martin: All right, say it. Let's roll. Next. Ooh. So Barcelona, oas, AppSec Global.

I'm excited for that. InfoSec Europe in London. InfoSec Europe. Yeah. SEC Europe. London. And then, uh, black, black Hat Defcon in, uh, Las Vegas. Who knows what's in between there. But, uh, lots of good conversations, tons of webinars,

Marco Ciappelli: and I'm, I'm hoping we'll make Australia, Melbourne happen again. That's the plan we run actually in.

Some of the folks from there. Yeah,

Sean Martin: OSH was here and, uh, a bus, a boss

Marco Ciappelli: was here. And I think Megan was here too, but we were here. So if you're watching this. Hi Megan. We hope to see you in Melbourne. And we hope to see you all

Sean Martin: That's right.

Marco Ciappelli: Online. Online on our social media.

Sean Martin: It's just like Melbourne

Marco Ciappelli: or Black Hat, or Barcelona.

Yes. Or London.

Sean Martin: Perfect.

Marco Ciappelli: Hey guys, thank you so much everybody. Thanks for staying with

Sean Martin: us this whole week. Uh, more coming to you. But, uh, stay tuned. If you have an idea for a topic or a [00:05:00] story, let us know something you want us to cover in one of the events. Let us know. If you wanna tell you a story as a, as a sponsor, let us know.
